Feeding Lucerne to Rabbits

Lucerne, also known as alfalfa, is relatively rich in protein and calcium compared with many grass hays.

It is commonly suitable for young, growing rabbits and may be appropriate for some adult rabbits with particular nutritional requirements. For many healthy adult rabbits, however, grass hay is generally preferred as the main everyday forage, with lucerne fed more selectively.

Always ensure rabbits have an appropriate high-fibre diet and continuous access to fresh drinking water.

It contains lucerne forage, also commonly known as alfalfa.

How big is the bag?
The bag measures approximately 450 × 500mm. An exact weight has not been supplied.

Is this suitable for rabbits?
Lucerne can be fed to rabbits where appropriate, particularly young and growing rabbits. Because it is comparatively rich in calcium and protein, it may not be the preferred main hay for every healthy adult rabbit.

Is this a full bale of lucerne?
No. This is a small, conveniently packed quantity, making it useful for small pets and customers who don't require a full bale.

How should I store lucerne?
Store it in a cool, dry and well-ventilated location, protected from moisture and contamination. Do not feed forage that is mouldy, excessively dusty or spoiled.
