How the Dee Snaffle Works

A Dee-ring snaffle sits between an eggbutt and Fulmer snaffle in design.

The Dee cheeks are longer and straighter than an eggbutt, creating more influence at the sides of the horse's mouth. This provides additional steering support while the Dee shape helps prevent the bit from being pulled through the mouth.

The curved mouthpiece creates additional space for the tongue and is designed to distribute the mouthpiece comfortably for suitable horses.

Fitting

This model has a 5-inch mouthpiece.

Correct fitting is important to ensure that the mouthpiece and Dee cheeks sit comfortably without pinching the lips or corners of the mouth.

As with any bit, the horse's individual mouth conformation should be considered when selecting the mouthpiece shape and size.
