Horse Weight & Height Measuring Tape

The Horse Weight & Height Measuring Tape is a practical, easy-to-use tool for estimating your horse's body weight and measuring height with one convenient tape.

Made from durable vinyl-coated nylon, one side of the tape provides measurements for estimating your horse's weight, while the other is used to measure height in hands and centimetres.

The height scale measures up to 20 hands / 200cm, making this a useful addition to any tack room, grooming kit or equine first-aid box.

Measure Your Horse's Height

The tape can be used to measure your horse's height in both:

Hands – up to 20hh
Centimetres – up to 200cm

This makes it useful for recording your horse's height or checking measurements when purchasing appropriately sized equipment.

Estimate Your Horse's Weight

The opposite side of the tape provides a convenient method of estimating your horse's body weight.

Regular weight estimates can be useful when monitoring changes in condition and when calculating quantities that depend on body weight.

A weight tape provides an estimate rather than the precision of a calibrated livestock scale, so measurements should be taken consistently for the most useful comparison over time.

Useful for Weight-Based Dosing

Knowing your horse's approximate weight is particularly important when using products that require weight-based dosing, including many equine dewormers and medicines.

Use the weight tape to obtain an estimate and always follow the current product label or veterinary instructions when calculating a dose.

For medications where precise body weight is particularly important, seek veterinary guidance or use an appropriate calibrated weighing method.

How to Use

Instructions are provided directly on the measuring tape.

For useful repeat measurements, measure your horse under similar conditions each time and position the tape consistently.

For height measurements, ensure the horse is standing as squarely as possible on a level surface.

FAQs

What does this horse measuring tape measure?
It provides scales for measuring your horse's height and estimating body weight.

Does it measure in hands?
Yes. The height scale measures in hands and centimetres.

What is the maximum height measurement?
The tape measures up to 20 hands / 200cm.

Can I use it to weigh my horse?
It provides an estimate of body weight based on the tape measurement. It is not the same as weighing a horse on a calibrated scale.

Can it help with horse deworming?
Yes. Estimating your horse's body weight can help when calculating a weight-based dewormer dose. Always follow the dewormer's current label instructions and avoid deliberately underdosing.

Can I use it for medication doses?
It may help provide a weight estimate, but medication should always be administered according to the product label or veterinary instructions. Where accurate weight is critical, a more precise weighing method may be appropriate.

Are instructions included?
Yes. Instructions for use are included on the tape itself.
