Rugged-Up was founded in 2025 by Heather Johnson, who trained under the highly respected Sue Overton. With more than 30 years of experience in designing and making horse blankets, Sue's expertise has shaped Rugged-Up's commitment to quality and fit. Every fabric we use has been carefully selected and tested by Sue over the years, ensuring durability and comfort for your horse. Each blanket is hand-cut by Heather herself, giving every piece the perfect fit.

We offer made-to-measure blankets in the Cape Town area, where your horse can be personally measured. You'll also be able to choose from a variety of fabrics, edging colours, and even add personalised embroidery for that special touch.

For convenience, we've also created an off-the-shelf range, available both online and at Whinny & Woof in Hout Bay.
